Eco-friendly Kitchen Cleaning Products for Your Providence Rental Property

Providence Woman Cleaning the Kitchen with Organic Products

Some things are better than a squeaky clean kitchen. However, not all of the cleaning supplies we use in our Providence residences are good for the environment. The good news is that there are currently more eco-friendly cleaning products available than ever before. In reality, you can prepare effective, safe, natural cleaning products at home for a fraction of the cost of store-bought goods that perform just as well or better with a few simple items you likely already have in your cupboards.

Why Use Eco-Friendly Products?

There are major benefits to using eco-friendly cleaning equipment in the kitchen. Strong chemicals can be exceedingly damaging to your eyes, nose, skin, respiratory system, and throat. In addition, they represent a grave danger to pets and vulnerable household members. In addition to having negative impacts on your health, many cleaning products you may buy at the store include chemicals in them that are bad for the environment. Harmful substances may get into rivers, groundwater, and lakes via our kitchen drains, polluting the soil, poisoning fish and animals, and killing vegetation.

On the other hand, eco-friendly cleaning products use straightforward, non-toxic, and environmentally preferable chemicals. Although, not all brands that claim to be “natural” or “organic” are environmentally beneficial. The items that can make the “natural” claim are limited by federal restrictions. In addition, there are no guidelines that require makers of cleaning products to list the chemicals on the product’s package. This implies that it is up to the knowledgeable consumer to either investigate the truly eco-friendly brands of household cleaners that are currently available or manufacture their own.

Simple Ingredients = Safer Cleaning

Many of the best homemade and store-bought eco-friendly cleaning products involve the same two simple substances: baking soda and white vinegar. Utilized in various combinations, these two pantry staples can clean up virtually any kitchen mess. You don’t need to use the harsh chemicals found in many store-bought brands to thoroughly clean your entire kitchen from floor to ceiling with a couple of common cleaning supplies. Here are some ideas for you:

  • Floors: By using some white vinegar, warm water, and a rag or mop, sealed wood and tile floors can be sterilized and cleaned. While the scent of vinegar may not be particularly nice, you could simply add a drop or two of your preferred essential oil to make your kitchen smell good.
  • Ovens: It might be challenging to remove the baked-on grime from the interior of your oven. But with just a little bit of patience, water, and baking soda you can use a baking soda paste to dissolve all that dirt and grime. Before scrubbing, the baking soda paste should be allowed to remain overnight for optimum results.
  • Glass and Shiny Surfaces: Combine rubbing alcohol, cornstarch, water, and white vinegar in a clean spray bottle to clean glass and other polished surfaces. From there, spray and rub clean with a microfiber or lint-free rag. Utilizing paper towels to wipe the glass and other reflective surfaces is not a smart idea, as they are not eco-friendly and typically leave streaks and paper towel bits behind.

Buy or DIY?

If the idea of developing your own cleaning supplies is still unappealing, there are now numerous eco-friendly alternatives. Bon Ami cleansers, Mrs. Meyer’s detergents, and Method products are among the most widely recognized brands. These and other comparable companies promise that their goods are not only eco-friendly but also safe and efficient. Some of these brands employ 100% recycled plastic in their packaging.

Whether you decide to purchase or produce your own kitchen cleaning supplies, once you experience the advantages of eco-friendly cleansers, you might never go back to using harsh chemicals again. You’ll not only protect your property and yourself, but you’ll also be helping to preserve the environment!
